Good times in the House of God

Sunday night we were with the Bethany Baptist Church in Batesville, MS, pastored by Bro. Tim Ellis. They have lovely facilities and we felt right at home there. Their church has a "5 o'clock teaching hour" where we sang and Bro. David preached. The sermon was about having a right attitude and not letting certain things affect us. The message was right on target, in fact, they even had an altar call and many Christians got things right! We also sang in the Sunday night service, and after we sang our planned number of songs, the Preacher asked us to sing again! The people were a blessing to us with their smiling faces and responsive attitudes. Bro. Ellis preached on "Some good treasures of God".  The message spoke to our hearts and we could've listened to him preach for hours! Thank God for  another preacher who will stand for the truths of the Bible! After service we enjoyed a time of food and fellowship with the good people of Bethany. We even saw two friends from Bro. Graham's church in AR- they were in visiting family. We laughed the night away (both at church and in the van Ü) and arrived safely back home about 9 that night. As this summer's tour draws close to it's end, it was nice to be able to blog about the "good times" we have been able to have in the house of the Lord. Happy 4th of July to all our readers! If you see a one of our country's servicemen when you're out and about, or even a veteran that goes to your church- be sure thank him or her for their faithful service to our country! The Harmonies have the weekend off! Ü

Deep South Youth Conference

We headed out early Wedensday morning for Gulfport, MS and the "Deep South Youth Conference" hosted by the Faith Baptist Church. The Harmonies were one of two tour groups that would be singing for the conference. We were excited to be invited back for the second year at this conference. The conference was truly first class! From the decorations to the meals- every detail was taken care of and seemed to flow quite smoothly. The preaching was red hot! We heard Bro. Kenneth Weaver from Multree, GA (two of his son's attended TSBC for a while), Dr. Reno Likins (the Harmonies used to travel to his youth conference when they were in the youth dept.) Bro. Mike Ray from Napa Valley, CA, Bro. Dan Carr, JR (a TSBC graduate) and our very own associate Pastor- Dr. Steven Barnes. Every service decisions were made and the Holy Spirit really had His way. We had a blast on the trip to Ship Island with the teens, and got a little more red than we would've liked to. We saw many familiar faces and made tons of new friends, should we start calling names surely we would forget someone so- hi y'all!! We could never say thank you enough to the people of Faith Baptist Church for 'rolling out the red carpet' for us. Praise the Lord for such a successful conference! We believe the last song sung at the conference sums up the attitude of the Faith Baptist members, the conference speakers and the Harmonies- "All the Glory belongs to Him"

**we would like to say a special thank you to Josh Carr for babysitting us every night! Ü**

Southern Hospitality

On Saturday afternoon we headed out for a short weekend in the Gulfport/Wiggins/Hattiesburg area. We were allowed to stay in the comfort of B.E.A.M.S. again (what a blessing). We had a quiet Saturday night as all "the girls" piled up in one room and watched an old movie together.

Sunday morning we were with Pastor Scottie Rayburn and the Red Creek Baptist Church. They had just finished their week of vacation Bible school and the auditorium was filled with all kinds of bright decorations. The piano was covered by a stable type backdrop, so it was quite entertaining when Tracy would sing from the piano and no one could see her. Bro. Sexton preached and we sang. After church we enjoyed a time of fellowship with the Rayburn family, it was good to be with friends.

Sunday night we were with Pastor Dean MIller in Hattiesburg, MS. We got there quite early and had time to enjoy hearing their choir practice some, how impressive they are! We were greeted with warm smiles and friendly handshakes from almost the entire congregation. We had a good time before, during and after service! We were privileged to meet the Josh Wesley family, missionaries to Jamaica! His presentation reminded us to be more thankful for what we have in America. The Central Baptist Church has such a wonderful spirit and it was such a joy to be with them.  We arrived SAFELY around 1:30am.

Dedicated

We piled in the van and headed out for Marble Hill, MO, not really sure where it was! The summer seems to fly by so quickly. We spent almost all of our time on the way up there talking and catching up with what's been going on in our lives. Whether it was rejoicing about our bus routes, a good time with some friends, or the Sunday morning service. We were all talking about the same thing- having a good time serving Jesus! The Lord allowed us to be with the Little Valley Baptist Church Pastored by Bro. Aaron Allen. We had a good time singing in the service. Bro. Sexton preached and we enjoyed it as always! In the front of the church there was a little plaque that said "Little Valley Baptist Church dedicated to the service of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" it really struck me when I saw it because Bro. David had already told us that Bro. Allen had been the Preacher there for 17 years. That is DEDICATION! A lot of the songs we sang in the service dealt with God's goodness, we are SO thankful for Christ's dedication and love to us. Bro. David preached about being dedicated to the cause of Christ no matter what obstacles you face! I couldn't help but notice what became an unwritten theme of the night......DEDICATION! The Lord put His hand around our van as we travelled home. We arrived quite sleepy but safely about 11:30 p.m.

Back to Bethel

Sunday morning we sang a song entitled "Mr. Bus Man" at our home church, for our 'bus Sunday'. All the bus kids lined up in the front of the auditorium and sang a song to the congregation- then we sang. The song tells the story of a little boy that started riding the bus to church. His family life  was a wreck, his father was an alcoholic. The little boy accepts Jesus as his personal Saviour. The song goes on to talk about when the 'bus man' is in Heaven and as he strolls along that little boy runs up to him to say thank you and there beside him is his father. How many times is that song a reality throughout our churches? It is the case is one of the Harmonies. After a service like that what can you say but "God is good"?
Sunday night Bro. Sexton preached at Bethel and we sang. Bro. Sexton preached on "When the Bible just doesn't work". The Bible should always work but sometimes because of our hardened and unstable hearts it CAN'T work. It was a good message about the Word of God! It was good to spend a weekend at home with friends and family!

Bountiful Brookhaven Blessings

The Harmonies set out for Brookhaven, MS on Saturday about 2 p.m. The Lord allowed the weather to be mostly fair and we arrived about 5:30 p.m. After a wonderful meal with a kind hearted member of the Northview Baptist Church we headed to our favorite place... Wal-Mart.
Sunday morning we were with the spirited people of Northview Baptist Church. We sang in the Sunday School hour, as well as the main service. Bro. Sexton preached in the main service, and taught in Sunday School. He taught about "What are you going to do with the Bible?" It was good to be reminded that what we do with God's Word determines what He will do with us! What a blessing to hold a copy of the inspired words of God in our hands today! The church provided a pot-luck style lunch and we fellowshipped well into the afternoon. It was good to meet some new friends, and hear stories from seasoned Christians such as the Preacher and his wife, Bro. and Mrs. Adamson.
Sunday night we had the privilege of being with one of our favorite congregations, the people of Charity Baptist Church, Pastored by Bro. Tim Gordon. Charity was one of the first five churches that we went to when we started travelling, so they hold a special place in our hearts. The Pastor's wife, Mrs. Carla, is one the best pianists we have ever heard! The Gordon family as a whole is quite talented in fact. Pastor Gordon even sang "I'm gonna let the Glory Roll" with the Harmonies! Bro. Sexton preached and the altars were filled. After church the people provided a meal and we had fellowship with the teenagers there- we can't wait to see them again at the "Deep South Youth Conference" in Gulfport, MS sponsored by Faith Baptist Church (Bro. Dan Carr) ! God
blessed our travels again and we arrived safely at home!! Praise the Lord!

Let 'er Rip

We loaded up and headed to the East Hill Baptist Church Pastored by Bro. Brett Capaci. He was out of town for his daughter's graduation and turned the services over to Bro. Sexton. It was a joy to be with the people at East Hill we were truly encouraged in the Lord after being with them. The people commented after Bro. Sexton's sermon "He really laid one on us tonight". God was good to give a meeting close to home where the familiar faces blessed us and the spirit moved.
